Nike Wins in Hamburg

May 18, 2008

While the championship match at Hamburg was still on going, I had a forecast of the game which I told to my mom and grandaunt (who were both avid fans of tennis) that in the end, Nike will be the winner.

Nike chose the best athletes. They got no. 1 and no. 2 best tennis players in the world. It is most likely that these two athletes, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, will meet in almost every championship matches. That is like more than an hour of Nike goodness on the sports television worldwide. Marketing at its finest.

Oh, I almost forgot. The King of Clay proved his authority once more. Nadal won the match 7-5, 6-7, 6-3.

Bob Ong Fans to Put up Their Own Book

May 15, 2008

People from Bobongpinoy Yahoo Group are planning to create their own book. Sort of a compilation of articles made by members.

Personally, I would want to write my own article to be published in that book. But the 500-800 word limit is like a Mount Everest for me. That might be as long as all the posts I’ve written in this blog put altogether. Also, talent would be my frostbite and the deadline is like an avalanche. Articles must be submitted until July 1.

Another burden would be the topics. Humor, love, sex, youth, family, politics, and education are the topics to choose from. Sex is removed from my choices – I’m still young to talk about that. And also politics because old people talk about that. I can’t think of anything to write about the youth because everything about the youth is just having fun. I’m not deep enough to write about family. Love? What am I going to write about love without being corny and cheesy? Writing humor would be hard because it comes out naturally – without the word count requirement and such. I want to write about education but it would surely end up being a badly written personal rant about why I hate my previous school. So, there’s no choice.

These people from the BP Yahoo Group are continuing to amaze and amuse me. They now have their book cover. Amazing people, indeed.

The only thing I’m worried is that the trend these days is that new artists or bands compile their own versions of the songs popularized by a specific group/artist into a revival album. Most of the time, the group they choose to revive songs from are uber great groups that are now defunct. I would say that Bob Ong is a great writer. Now, don’t tell me he is already defunct. =)

Most likely, I will just wait until their book is published and then grab a copy. I’m trying to refrain from doing one of my styles – If you can’t join them, mock them.

I will also lower my standards quite a bit. I know it would be hard for me to have my article published in that compilation. I would try for somewhere easier, say PDI’s Youngblood. HAHA!

That’s a bad joke.

Mother’s Day

May 11, 2008

Today is Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day to your mom and all the moms in the internet.

An inconvenient truth:

GTA IV got more search results than Mother’s day. “GTA IV” leads with 1.6 million results more than “mothers day.” Result came from Googlefight. Just beat it! HAHA

There Can Only Be One

May 3, 2008

There can only be one

They aren't twins. They're homies.

The theme of the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The website shows a split screen image of the top players of each team that plays against each other in the post-season games. The theme became a hit and NBA.com even brags about the inspired Time Magazine edition that features Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton.

And now, NBA is turning into the fans. Fans can now upload their own version of the split screen images. Being the geek that I am, I uploaded an image.

There can only be one

I created an almost-split-screen-image. I do not have the funds to have a photo session with these two masters of the universe and so, after several Google image searches, I found pictures of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates that face almost the same angle.

It’s kinda weird that I always get ideas like this whenever I am still awake late at night. Maybe my brain is working better during night rather than in daytime. That might be the reason why I always get better scores in exams when I am dreaming.

Survivor Philippines

April 12, 2008

GMA 7 got the franchise for the Philippine version of the reality game show Survivor. I wonder how Filipino it would be. According to Mukamo.com, the taglines “Outwit, Outplay, Outlast” is translated into “Pautakan, Pagalingan, Patatagan.” I only hope that the show wouldn’t involve text messaging in eliminating a contestant. I’m also wondering where will the show take place. In a Senate blue ribbon committee probe, perhaps?

Some Random News

April 11, 2008

1. There is a shortage in the supply of NFA rice in some parishes and authorized resellers. It seems to be because the buyers form a line longer than those of the entrance gates of Eat Bulaga and Wowowee.

This shows that food is more important than kissing either Willie Revillame or Vic Sotto. But I would want to write a placard professing that I am the missing son of Sotto. I’d do either that or I would kiss him.

Back on the rice shortage. People buying the rice seems to be mad. Mad at the government or mad to the reseller who is not organized in selling the NFA rice. But whenever the camera hovers on them, they would still smile and wave at the camera.

2. A Las-Vegas-like-casino will be constructed here in the Philippines. According to the planners, this will give Filipinos thousands of jobs and dollar earning opportunities.

I believe this would indeed give Filipinos lots of benefits. People would exchange their cocks for casino chips. Cocks as in the ones used in cock-fighting. The jobs – come on, who doesn’t want to have a Job that pays of several hundred dollars and lung cancer? I only hope there isn’t any Rex Navarette below jobs in there. Last and not the least is what I believe the most important benefit – the possibility of gay marriages, of course.

The Header

April 10, 2008

Today is my edit-my-blog-design-day. Although by accident. Those who visited this blog before would notice the changes. But then, those who have visited don’t want to return anymore. I would look like I lack self confidence but the truth is, as Meryl said earlier, I suck.

Anyhow, I changed the layout and the header. The header is personally made by me. So it also sucks. But I want to boast the Jolly Roger there with pens replacing the bones (although the pens look like sharpened bones). Now, the question is why Jolly Roger? It’s because I googled Jolly Roger yesterday and I now know what it is. I felt I sucked less after I learned about Jolly Roger. Jolly Roger changed my life. But just a little. =)

A blogger once more [arvin goes wordpress]

March 21, 2008

I’m going to start another blog site (I was to write “I’m going to start my nth blog” however, I lost count of how many blog sites I had). I abandoned my other sites either because I lack time in updating them or because I’m not satisfied with the features. But now, I’m in wordpress. I’m deadlier and more dangerous. But I assure everyone that I’m still senseless.

Now armed with my own computer, I will once again conquer the world (world wide web actually) with my posts that will surely captivate everyone’s appendix. [Yeah appendix. I don't know why. I'm poor in math]
